Description
This study was designed to determine the effects of pH reduction on the existing scale in the distribution system and on the scaling tendencies of the tap water. In order to produce a comprehensive assessment, this project consisted of three parts: theoretical assessment of the scaling tendencies of the City of Austin water; placement of coupons and pipe loops at all water treatment plants; and, annual elemental and x-ray diffraction analyses of scale retrieved from different locations in the distribution system.
