Corporate integrity is imperative for business success and should be required byall employees at all times. It is essential in delivering quality products andservice while developing successful relationships with customers and suppliers.In every task and business transaction, the reputation of an organization iseither built or destroyed on how employees conduct themselves. Employees cannotearn and sustain the required levels of trust unless integrity is considered thebasis of everyday business. So what can be done in the water industry to stressthe importance of this issue? The guidance for ethical decisions and integrityshould be an organization’s Employee Code of Conduct and Performance policy, whichshould be designed to maintain a work environment where each employee can growprofessionally and personally with mutual respect, and achieve his or her highestpotential. This paper discusses the development of a progressive Employee Code ofConduct Policy. The Employee Code of Conduct and Performance Policy “Class I”standards for the Louisville Water Company of Louisville, Kentucky, are providedfor review purposes. Includes 2 references.
