Description
For the past year, AWWA committee members – first as part of the Sustainability AdHoc Committee and now as the SustainabilityInitiatives Coordinating Committee – haveworked to review current AWWA sustainabilityactivities, identify additional short- andlong-term activities for the association, anddevelop a draft strategy for implementing therecommended activities. Short-term activitiesare defined as those that can be completed in2010 with minimal staff and financialresources; long-term activities are identified asthose that will require some level of staff timeand/or financial resources.More than 40 past, planned, or potentialactivities were identified. The ad hoc committeethen reviewed and narrowed the list toseven short-term and seven long-term activities.This article provides an overview of theprocess and details the identified activitiesalong with the committee members responsiblefor implementing them.Includes tables.
