Description
This article discusses how US water systems, particularly those in the older, eastern areas of North America, are deteriorating, resulting in substantial water losses between the source of supply and the customer’s tap. Water loss and leakage has required many utilities to rigorously review system input, metered and unmetered water, authorized and unauthorized use, and the scientific calculation of unavoidable real water losses. It states that a systematic, calculated, and nondiscretionary approach to transmission and distribution system water accountability is necessary in North America.
