Description

Water District No.1 of Johnson County, Kansas, rehabilitated sections of unlined cast-iron pipe installed in the 1940s. Customers complained to the district about rusty water delivered to their homes. After two options were investigated, the cast-iron pipes and fittings were cleaned and lined in place with cement mortar. The water district and the customers that it serves are both pleased with the result: elimination of rusty water at a reasonable cost. Includes 10 references, figure.
