Journal AWWA – Design and Evaluation of an Air-Stripping Tower for Removing VOCs From Groundwater
Journal Article by American Water Works Association, 09/01/1986

Document Format: PDF

Description

An air stripping tower was designed to treat groundwater contaminated with cis-1,2-dichloroethene, trichloroethene, tetrachloroethene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and isomers of xylene. A simplified procedure for designing a tower with the smallest volume and energy requirements was used. Data for the first four months of operation demonstrated excellent removals for the six volatile organic compounds. Costs associated with design and operation of the tower are presented. Operating problems, microbiological analyses, and data regarding total organic halogen (TOX) and TOX formation potential are summarized. Includes 22 references, tables, figures.
