Today, there is a broad range of waterborne coatings available to choose fromwhen selecting coatings for areas where corrosion control and durability are key–including water and wastewater treatment applications. With the exception ofimmersion and secondary containment, where waterborne coatings are notrecommended, these coatings, once considered less effective than solvent-bornesystems, are becoming the preferred formulation. This paper briefly discussesU.S. guidelines on industrial coatings, the benefits of waterborne coatings anddescribes the three primary types of waterborne coatings.
