This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the economic benefits of energy efficiency. An example is presented of an energy efficiency best practice to minimizepumping energy at the Kimberly Water Utility, where its John Street facility altered theiroperation of pumping from a deep well into a ground reservoir by installing a larger premium efficient motor and a variablefrequency drive to their deep well pump. Another example is presented of the City of Oconto Water Department where water was suppliedby wells with declining recharge.To make the wells function, pumps were throttled tolower their flow rate, manage drawdown and retainwater quality. As anenergy efficiency modification, they purchasedand installed variable frequency drives. Includes table, figure.
