This brief paper provides an outline that was used to discuss the following objectives: provide information on a Customer Information System Replacement Methodology that was successfully utilized at Hackensack Water Company; demonstrate the process of how to gain control over a product vendor and obtain a fixed-fee contract by utilizing the “replacement methodology”; and identify the key success factors along with the major risks experienced during the entire system development life cycle.
