Description
Aeration of drinking water has been shown to directly impact the pH and dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC). Because of this impact, aeration has been suggested as a useful technique to treat drinking water for copper corrosion provided the drinking water pH and DIC levels are appropriate. In this study, aeration was applied to control copper corrosion in a small public water system, the Forest View Homeowners System, in Florence, Montana. Aeration was evaluated for: its ability to reduce copper concentrations; its ease of installation and operation; and, its cost to a small system.
