Conference Proceeding by American Water Works Association, 06/01/2007

Document Format: PDF

Description

This powerpoint presentation begins by providing background information on Tampa Bay Water and the Lithia Water Treatment Plant in Hillsborough County, Florida. The presentation presents a study on treatment alternatives for H2Sremoval while meeting water quality (WQ) standards.Parameters of greatest concern include:H2S: < 0.1 mg/L; and, turbidity: < 1.0 NTU. The study alsoevaluated treatment alternatives that consistently met the above criteria. Process chemistry is presented, along with procedures concerning pilot plant configurations, experimental plan – membranes, bench tests: H2S removal by chlorine; Schematic: Cl2-oxidation – UF; Schematic: Bio-oxidation – UF; Conclusions related to treated water qualityand membrane cleaning interval; Integration of Membrane Alternatives intoExisting Treatment Process; and, Criteria for Membrane AlternativeRankings. Ranking Results were:Biological Oxidation followed by UF;Chlorine Oxidation followed UF; and,Ozone followed by BAC.
