Pilot-Scale Evaluation of Post-Filter Nanofiltration for Compliance with the Stage 2 DBPR
Conference Proceeding by American Water Works Association, 06/01/2007

Document Format: PDF

Description

The objectives of this pilot study at the Hugh A. Wyckoff Water Treatment Plant, owned and operated by the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority, were the following:to obtain major design and operating criteria for a potential full-scale post-filter nanofiltration (NF)facility; todetermine the fouling and scaling potential of the feed water; toprovide water samples for characterization of permeate and concentrate water quality; and,to determine the corrosion potential and disinfection byproduct (DBP) formation potential of theblended finished water. This paper describes the operational and water quality results from the pilot-scale evaluation ofpost-filter NF membrane treatment. Additionally, one of the most significant issues for evaluatingthe use of NF in north Georgia is the ability to identify a permittable and economical means ofconcentrate disposal. A separate study was conducted to determine the water quality andtreatability testing performed on the concentrate and the potential disposal options (Isabel, 2007). Includes 4 references, tables, figures.
