This powerpoint presentation outlines the following topics: Microfiltration (MF)/Ultrafiltration (UF) membrane clean-in-place (CIP) waste streams;regulatory aspects of membrane CIP wastes andresiduals;treatment of CIP waste streams; and,pilot study results from return of treated phosphoricacid and citric acid CIP waste streams. Presentation summary includes: citric and phosphoric acid can both be treated withcalcium chloride;the recycling of treated phosphoric acid CIP wastehad no adverse impact on membrane operation;the recycling of treated citric acid CIP waste hadno adverse impact on membrane operation; TOC concentration did increase after recyclingtreated citric acid CIP waste; and,careful consideration should be given to potentialaffects of recycle on primary treatment trainperformance.
