Description

The City of Glendale, Arizona and CH2M HILL worked together to evaluate and select the preferred water treatment technologies for the expansion and upgrade of the City’s two water treatment plants: Cholla (30 mgd) and Pyramid Peak (25 mgd). The evaluation assessed the ability of various treatment technologies to meet specified goals and objectives in a cost-effective manner. These objectives included meeting existing and future regulations, distribution system water quality, environmental concerns, inorganic contaminants, synthetic organic contaminants, emerging pathogens, and aesthetics. The process developed a defensible evaluation of treatment alternatives that clearly identifies the criteria for evaluation and the methodology for selecting a preferred alternative for modifying and expanding the water treatment plants to meet the City’s growing need for high-quality potable water. Includes tables, figures.
