Transport of Chromium (Cr(VI)) Through Reverse Osmosis (RO), Nanofiltration (NF), and Ultrafiltration (UF) Membranes
Conference Proceeding by American Water Works Association, 06/16/2002

Document Format: PDF

Description

A bench-scale cross-flow flat-sheet filtration unit is being used to evaluateshort-term chromium (Cr (VI)) rejection by negatively charged membranes. Threemechanisms, solution diffusion (dominant in RO), size exclusion (dominant inNF), and electrostatic exclusion (dominant in UF), are being highlighted in thisstudy for chromium removal. In this study, RO, NF, and tight UF membraneshave been tested to evaluate the effects of pH and co- and counter ions on Cr(VI) rejection. Includes 9 references, tables, figures.
