This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of IPCC 4AR and three key uncertainties that include the following:impacts in some developing countries;the capacity to adapt – what technological limits, whatcosts; and,the various mixes of adaptation and mitigation that arelikely to be optimal. IPCC 4AR – some major impacts are not avoidable, even withsubstantial mitigation, and serious adaptation measures areneeded. The potential for adaptation varies greatly, both between andwithin regions, e.g: in Australia and New Zealand. The presentation compares adaptation to mitigation, along with the costs of avoidingdangerous climate change, observed changes in North American waterresources during the past century, and adaptation measures.
