Impact of Proposed Urbanization on Groundwater Quality: A Case Study in Hawaii
Conference Proceeding by American Water Works Association, 01/01/1991

Document Format: PDF

Description

A potential dichotomy exists between the demand for housing and the possible groundwater quality impacts due to development. There is a need to assess the potential groundwater quality impacts of urbanization so that development can proceed without creating unacceptable adverse impacts. Such an assessment study was recently conducted to determine the potential for groundwater contamination due to proposed urban development in Hawaii. The objective of this paper is to present the assessment methodology, results, and recommendations of the Hawaii case study.
